I have written an application to read & write from/into Excel files using the Apache POI. When I run this application on the Unix Solaris platform,
it gives me a compiler error saying "the package does not exists" even though i have added the JAR file in the classpath.
Yes, I have downloaded the JAR file from the Jakarta Apache site from the "bin" & not from the "source".
The error looks like this:
]treePanel.java:44: package org.apache.poi.hssf.usermodel does not exist
treePanel.java:45: package org.apache.poi.poifs.filesystem does not exist
I had this same problem. Using JCreator LEv4 and JDK 1.6.5. I knew something was up, cuz I had carried the program from another computer where it was currently running as I was having the problems, and I had registered the packages with the jdk profile the same way i had done a dozen times before.
For some reason, closing and reopening JCreator solved the problem. As near as I can figure it only updates the classpath on startup shrug. Oh well...dead thread anyways, but if anyone else runs into this problem try that.
