    N1 SPS Install Issue - ms 6.0.1, cli 6.0 - Sol10 SPARC 5/08

    807567
Anyone else experience this and have a fix?

After I install the cli (6.0), the masterserver (6.0.1) throws errors to the cr_server.out file and when you login to the web ui, you are immediately given an unexpected error message.

The masterserver does work before installation of the cli. After ms installation, the ms is shutdown, then the cli is installed. Once the cli is installed, I restart the ms. I've gone through this quite a few times and have found it consistent. I've tried with replacing the jre and using existing jre. Since this is just a test environment at the moment, only insecure transport mechanisms have been chosen. The masterserver runs as n1sps with proper auths and projects settings.

      Again, here are relevant versions:

      Solaris 10 SPARC 5/08
      n1_sps-6_0_1-ga-solaris-sparc/solaris_sparc/cr_ms_solaris_sparc_pkg_6.0.sh
      cr_cli_solaris_sparc_pkg_6.0.sh

Even if the cli is uninstalled using the cr_uninstall_cli.sh script, the masterserver installation no longer works and must be reinstalled.

I can workaround the problem, but get errors later when I try to provision a solaris installation. I am not sure if these errors are related at this time, but would like to resolve this error first before troubleshooting the OSP problem.

      Thanks.

Here is the output in the cr_server.out log:

I've attempted to install the masterserver 6.0.1 on a clean install of Solaris 10 8/07 SPARC, but the installation fails. Postgres is installed.

          Last lines of /tmp/N1SPSInstaller.log.768:
Error!  Failed to initialize the database (exit value was 1).
          Exiting..

The installation of the Master Server is incomplete.
It can be removed using the following command:
                  pkgrm  SUNWspsms SUNWspsc1 SUNWspsj1
          Contents of /tmp/N1SPSInstaller.log.768.db.out:
shell-init: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories: Permission denied
could not identify current directory: Permission denied
could not identify current directory: Permission denied

The program "postgres" is needed by initdb but was not found in the
          same directory as "initdb".

First, MS, CLI, RA, LD all have to be at the same version, so your setup with mixed 6.0 and 6.0.1 is likely not going to work.

I suggest you start from scratch, install SPS 6.0 (download now from sun.com) and apply patches to get to 6.0.2.

Thank you for your reply. I didn't see those patches when they were released.

My masterserver installation is SPARC, so here are the links for N1 SPS 6.0.2 if anyone needs them.
