SubFire Midrabge Systems Installation on Server

    807750
      Howdy,
Anybody has any idea on how to install Sunfire Midrange Module on a t2000 Server as a Sun MC server. I am trying to install this module, but it keeps on asking me the SC ip addressess. Is there a way around it or not?
      thanks

          Hi,

see for these http://docs.sun.com/source/819-0418/index.html as if you install the SunFire MidRange addon on setup it will configure
the patform agent on SuNMC server everytime you run es-setup. So you can skip these default setup and can setup an additional platform module as written in the docs (http://docs.sun.com/source/819-0418/AppendixA_CLI-Install.html#pgfId-1000245) so you can answer no on any setup you run on the SunMC server.

            Hi Zeealee,

T2000s don't use the Midrange Config Reader module themselves, they use the "Common Config Reader" module (aka "ELP Config Reader). So I'm assuming you just want to install the Midrange module to [enable monitoring of 3800-6900 systems|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5428194&tstart=0]?

If so, then are you enable to specify the IP of a 3800-6900 System Controller, or are you seeing an error? Initially this IP will be used to set up one platform Agent (to cover one system), but you can enable more platform Agents later (i.e. if you have 10 6900 systems, you'll be running 10 platform Agents to monitor them).

              Hi Mike,

If they use the common config reader than why I do not see a proper hardware icon of the t2000 machine on the main page. Also, I see only 4 tabs when click on the T200 box (Info, Module Browser, Alarms and Module Manager) I cannot see View Logs, Applications and Hardware tabs.
Is there a fix to this?

              Thanks

Back when SunMC 4.0 first came out we'd occasionally see issues like this, though I thought the latest Common Config Reader versions have fixed it. SunMC is looking for a file that matches the system "family" type that the Agent is reporting... and if it doesn't have a file of that type it doesn't think the host is running a real SunMC Agent, so it disables the extra tabs.

You can link/copy files to have the correct names: see [this forum post|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5243025].
