Not entirely sure what you mean by a generic kernel.
But you can look at the patch reports on this page [http://sunsolve.sun.com/show.do?target=patchpage|http://sunsolve.sun.com/show.do?target=patchpage] and look for the highest numbered kernel patch in the recommended patches.
For Solaris 10 sparc for example, its currently 141414-07

What I mean is the number returned by uname -v if I have the system patched to its highest level.
My systems are 8, 9 and 10.
Yup, looking at the patch reports is your best bet.
