Not quite sure which of the many config options I should be using:
I'm using the Java Web proxy in Reverse proxy mode to to layer 7 URI inspection to parse out requests to one of 3 custom applications. One of those apps occasionally breaks, but doesn't fall over and therefore still accepts incoming requests. The proxy continues to open connections to that bad app server, filling up the pool and preventing connections to our other application servers from getting through.
I don't want to raise the connection pool, but basically want to close out all open requests to the fallen app server after say, 5 seconds. 5 seconds is plenty of time for a functional back-end app server to finish processing the request, so we're ok with the short time. We just need to close out all of the open connections to servers that will not return anything.
i hope, you are using sun web server 7. If not, you are probably in the wrong forum because i am not sure what is java web proxy server . if you are using sun web server 7, then you could use
ObjectType fn="http-client-config" timeout="5" within the default object
ObjectType fn="http-client-config" timeout="5"
here is a useful link on this subject
now, you will need to restart the server and if this work, then you will need to pull this manual change into admin repository by running
<install-root>/bin/wadm pull-config user=admin config=<hostname.domainname> <hostname.domainname>
hope this helps
I'm using Sun Java System Web Proxy Server 4.0.11, and where should I post since the title of this forum is Sun Java System Web Proxy Server?
