Correcting Sign on Favorable/(Unfavorable) Budget Variance Reports

I have created a Budget to Actual Variance Report, but I don't know how to get the variance column to show the correct sign for both* revenue items and expense items. Both revenue and expenses need to be displayed as "positive" numbers on the report. When the actual revenue is less than the budget, it is unfavorable, but the variance shows it as a positive number. I've tried various combinations of change sign, don't change sign, override column calcs, absolute value, etc, but can't seem to get anything that works. Any ideas?
