I used to have an administrator user account, but I need to use SureTrak with a limited user account now. When I try to run it, I get an error message: "Unable to find a serial number. Please make sure the that files in the Program or Work directory, as specified in the registry, are not marked Read-Only." They're not. I can still run it fine if I log in as an Administrator, so it has to be a permissions issue. I've been assigned full permission to the specified folders, but it still errors out and won't open.
That did it! Thanks so much for your help! But now we have another problem...
We're mostly able to use the program now, but it still crashes from time to time and apparently doesn't release it's handle on the license when that happens, so we can't get back in without logging off the PC and back on. One such instance that makes it crash is when we try to print, and we'd love to get that resolved.
As soon as we click Print, we get an error that says, "SureTrak Project Manager application file has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The error dialog offers a link to click for more information, which reveals that the error was generated by AppName: suretrak.exe, AppVer: 22.214.171.124, ModName: suretrak.exe, ModVer: 126.96.36.199, Offset: 0030278a. That dialog also provides a link to click for more information, which results in a lengthy window of "Error Report Contents," and a note that C:\DOCUME~1\%USERNAME%\LOCALS~1\Temp\88bb_appcompat.txt will be included in the error report. I'll paste the contents of that appcompat.txt below. Thinking that the name of that file might mean that the issue relates to application compatibility, I tried setting the application compatibility on our SureTrak shortcut to Windows 95, but that didn't help, either.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there something we can do to make it print? It used to print just fine before we joined the domain, and it still prints fine if I log in as an administrator, so I suspect this is another permissions issue.
Anyway, here's the contents of that 88bb_appcompat.txt file:
Most printing issues are resolved by installing the Suretrak 3.0C patch. In order to obtain this you will need a current maintenance agreement with Oracle. Click the link below and login and you should be prompted to save the file.
Well, I believe Primavera's old policy was if you purchased Suretrak after the 3.0C patch was released you were entitled to it regardless of maintenance (as they never re-mastered the CD's). Since the Oracle acquisition I have no idea what the policy on this is so I would suggest you call in and find out.
