Active Directory is an LDAP database.
Entries in an LDAP database have DNs, which are keys, and attributes, such as the one you are trying to set.
You can access LDAP via JNDI. JNDI has facilities to look up an object and modify its attributes.
Everything else you need to know is in the Javadoc or the JNDI tutorial.
