          But, for monitoring system, possible, best not write you own scripts. Use special monitoring software.
          Sun Managment Center for example or any other.

          Regards.

            vmstat 1 2 doesnot shows me the % of usage..., But I need the % usage of the allocation of paging space

            and by default is there any internal backup verification commands in Solaris...!

              Nik
              vmstat - give you information about using swap and physizcal memory.

              swap -s give information about using swap ( virtaul memory)

              prtconf - give information how many physical memeory installed.

              For calculate % - write you own script.

              Solarsi not have bundled backup system. It's have some comands, that can used for backup. ( tar; cpio; ufsdump).

              Nobody can know what used on your site.
              Are you sure that you have backup and have what need verify ?

              Regards.

                  HI.
                  I am not sure about backup... but need to Verify backups are being performed or not
                  It's very difficult say via forum. You have one system or many ? You have Library or tape drive ?

                  Check crontab for possible backup commands.
                  Check for possible installed backup software.

                  pkgchk | grep -i backup
                  can you please get me the script For calculate %
                  Try use this:
                  #!/bin/sh
                   /usr/sbin/swap -s | awk '{
                   u=substr($9,1,length($9)-1)
                   a=substr($11,1,length($11)-1)
                   printf("SWAP USAGE: %3.2f%\n",100*u/(u+a))
                  }'
                  #!/bin/sh
                  MEM=`/usr/sbin/prtconf |grep "Memory size:" | awk '{ print $3 * 1024 } '`
                  M_FREE=`vmstat 1 2 | tail -1 | awk ' { print $5 }' `
                  echo $MEM $M_FREE | awk ' { printf ( "PMEM USAGE: %3.2f%\n", ($1-$2)*100/$1 ) }'
