I had this problem as well, but I have found the solution!

First you need to download and install VirtualBox from this link:

Then download the following three files:

I downloaded all of the files to the root of my C: drive just to make sure that there were no filename or path location issues (ie spaces in the path causing problems).

You do not need to combine any files at this point, since this is already done for you. Check the file sizes from the download page and confirm that your files are the same.

Now run VirtualBox and select File...Import Appliance

Click on Choose then navigate to the directory containing the .ovf file and click Open and finally Next

You'll see a list of hardware settings. At the end there will be a Hard Disk Controller (IDE) with two file locations.

The file path that is shown is where the .vmdk files will be COPIED TO - not where they are CURRENTLY LOCATED.

VirtualBox is going to read the .ovf and the two .vmdk files you downloaded and copy them to a new directory called "OTN Developer Days" in the directory specified by this path.

Personally I didn't find this clear at all and was very frustrated, but accidentally just stumbled across the actual meaning of the path in the settings page.

Hope this helps some of you who are struggling with this!

Thank you for giving a detailed tutorial .

But after you said the "THIS NEXT PART IS THE KEY!!" , what am i supposed to do ?

I have tried all the available options :

i ) copied the 3 files into root folder and imported the .ovf file . It failed

ii ) copied the 3 files into C:\Users\MyAccount\VirtualBox VMs\OTN Developer Days folder . Same errors

iii ) changed the file sizes in ovf file to match the downloaded file size ( i've checked the downloaded file sizes with the sizes mentioned with website . They're correct ! )

No use . Can someone help me ?

The NEXT PART WAS THE KEY!!

Thank you!! I had tried just about everything I could think of - it certainly is NOT obvious - neither the .ovf, nor the error message.

            Thanks again!!
