Probably the same issue as mine: 3.0 final+EA4: Doesn't work with 11.1 OCI/Thick driver
Make sure you don't use the OCI/Thick driver in the preferences, and/or that your ORACLE_HOME points to the 11.2 client.
Hope that helps,
Am getting the same error when trying to run the latest version (3.0.04.34).
Environment - Windows 7, 64-bit, but am running SQL Developer in Windows XP mode, using 32-bit version of program. Database is 10g. Connections worked fine in XP mode when running version 2.1.1.
- Does 3.0.04.34 require an 11g database?
- If not, does this come down to 'thick client' vs 'thin client'?
- Where are these 'client' adjustments made within product?
Is your Preferences>Database>Advanced setting for "Use OCI/Thick driver" checked? If so try unchecking it and try connecting again. This worked for me without changing the client or any environment settings.
I am getting the same error with the 3.0.04.34 version of SQL Developer as I got with the 3.0.03.97. So, I'm still using 3.0.03.45. This time, I exited the running sqldeveloper 3.0.03.45, and started the sqldeveloper exe for 3.0.04.34 which I just downloaded and unzipped. It asked to import settings. When I try to open the connect to scott/tiger@//lambda/ora10 (where lambda is my local db server), I get this unhelpful java error. Debugging java and jdbc are not in my area of interest or expertise.
This worked for me also.
