yes but we observed that when one thread was accessing a partition whose filer was down, it caused entire process hung on calling FileDir.listFiles().
Could you let me know if native call of listFiles() method will be invoked as a separate process?

I first came across it in 1989, a long time before Java was invented. The JVM doesn't even know that it's a remote file system, only the operatiing system knows that. How could it possibly be a JVM bug?
