Were looking to develop an HTML form to allow end users to write back to a cube mainly for budgeting purposes.
The technology to be used is the JAVA API and HTML - I realize there are some API examples deployed on the server mainly for data retrieval but does anyone know of or have any examples on implementing this process of writing back to the server from an HTML form using JAVA?
I'm trying to get all the pieces put together so I can have a better understanding of the process and what will be required, is this even the best way to do the write back?
Thanks for any and all help you can give.
Thanks for the info EJP.
I wasn't seeing any references to getting data into a cube this way so I didn't want to start down this path and run into a roadblock.
May I ask what the norm is and what your experiences have been in getting field data into a cube, Is HTML not the best approach?
Thanks in advance.
Just thought I would post a bit of info. on what I found in case anyone else is going down this path and looking for some examples in one place...
A Basic HTTP form for sending data to a Servlet- http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/simplehtml-137341.html
A Servlet example for receiving the info from HTTP - http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Programming/BasicJava1/Code/ExampServlet.java
The last piece of the puzzle would be to take the "Data" passed and push it into Essbase using JAPI.
