tips on speeding up recover database

      Hi all,

A few questions on restore/recover database.

If a recover database command needs to apply many archive logs, does the process of restoring archive logs and then applying them benefit from multiple channels? Or does this run in serial since archive logs must be applied serially?

In my case, I am running via SBT_TAPE through NetBackup, which is reading and writing to a disk based device.

I tested in my UAT environment but unable to see that they are using more channel to apply the recovery.

The only thing that actually speed up is when restoring archivelog from backupset to disk level as I noticed that is using the channel I allocated.

One more parameter you can look into is recovery_parallelism.
