My company has outgrown our existing data center and has decided to move the entire data center thousands of miles away.
Current Data Center contains 300+ servers. One of the most critical is an Oracle 10gR2 2-node RAC cluster on HPUX supporting multi-tier E-Business Suite 126.96.36.199. The concurrent managers run on the HPUX database nodes and the web/forms tiers are load balanced using BIG-IP between three Linux nodes. We also have some small Oracle databases for RMAN, Grid Control and Oracle Application Server. In addition, we have a variety of Microsoft products including Exchange Servers, SQL Server (2000, 2005 and 2008) some clustered, some not.
Some concerns I have:
1) Reliable options for relocating the Oracle RAC database
2) Impact of WAN - how to diagnose and how to improve performance
3) Impact of different time zone
Any comments or suggestions on where to begin would be much appreciated.
Our project is about to embark on a similar project. A 13 node RAC cluster will be physically relocated. In the new data center the servers will be assigned new ip addresses. I assume you had the same problem. What changes did you have to make in order to get the Oracle RAC up and running in target? Thanks, Dee.
