Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certification Lab setup

Hello everyone, please I need your assistance/guidance in setting up a personal study lab environment on my laptop that would be ideal for practicing what is found in http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getCourseDesc?dc=D69757&p_org_id=47011&lang=US
It would be nice if your solution uses oracle vm virtualbox and oracle linux(or any other recommended linux distro). Kindly specify the best version of the os to use. I found out somethings are not yet stable in OEL 6.1, though it would be nice if that works perfectly.

Thank you for your anticipated assistance.

          Hi,

You can install VirtualBox or VMware for testing and use Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.6 and use Oracle Database 11gR2

The Oracle Enterprise Linux can be downloaded from https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux

          Cheers

Thanks for your reply. I'm using virtualbox and a couple of linux distros, including oel.

What I need is specific or likely system (that is vm) configurations that would allow me to cover most if not all topics that are required for oca. For example, how to setup ASM for grid on a single server. In other way, a setup that would allow me to try out the required examples.

            Thanks ...

                Aman....
I am not sure that I could see any clear question in your post. If you are struck in doing something specific, please post that so that we can look into it and try to reply. If you are willing to have some preconfigured image of oracle database(this is what I imagined that you are after from your post), please search on http://edelivery.oracle.com for some preconfigured setups which would be including both OEL and oracle database(single instance and RAC ). You can install those images and can start the work.

                    Dude!
You can install Oracle Linux, Oracle 11gR2 and ASM in Oracle Virtualbox or VMware, provided you have sufficient hardware. You should have at least have 15 GB free disk space and at least 2 GB of free RAM available for exclusive use by your virtual machine.

Virtualbox and VMware will both allow you to add disks to your setup that you can use for your ASM configuration. The disks will appear as disk image files on your primary host system.

The installation of Linux, Oracle and ASM are all complex tasks on it's own. If you install Oracle Linux (free) it will be the easiest to use the supplied defaults, then configure the system to use the Oracle Public Yum software repository at http://public-yum.oracle.com. You can install the oracle-validated package, which will take care of the necessary prerequisite tasks prior to installing Oracle 11gR2. Note that only version up to 5.6 are currently supported for Oracle database installation, don't bother with 6 yet unless you are experienced.

If you have specific questions, you might want to post them in the right forum:
