    Problem clearing logs on 6140

    876473
When I try to use */opt/SUNWsefms/bin/service* to clear the logs on my 6140, in preparation for the upgrade from firmware revision 6.x to 7.x, I get this error:

Executing the reset command on <my 6140's name>
      Completion Status: ERROR: java.lang.NullPointerException

Anyone have any experience with this? Java version issue?

      Thanks.

This is what I get out of "java -version" if that is what you are angling for:

              # java -version
              java version "1.5.0_28"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_28-b04)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.5.0_28-b04, mixed mode)

                Hi.
What CAM version you have ?

It's look like very old version. You must upgrade CAM and install latest version of 6.x firmware before upgrade to 7.x firmware.

                So you should do step:
                1. Install latest CAM
                2. Install baseline 6.x on array
                3. Using Upgrade tool migrate from 6.x to 7.x
                4. Install baseline 7.x on array

                Regards.

                  Yep, thats it.

I have CAM 5.1 on that machine, but have been using much more current versions on my desktop workstation to do the day to day management.

I'll upgrade on the actual host with the array attached to it, and try to clear the logs.

                  Thanks!

Upgraded to CAM 6.8, and it didn't help. Still getting the Nullpointer error.
