aah. I see that some information has been deleted now.

I hope that you have found a resolution.

The reason for my question :
What is the server CPU utilisation (I'm not asking about DB CPU time but CPU consumed by non-Oracle processes on the same server) ?
is that it is also known 'log file sync wait' time has multiple components. Part of it is about LGWR actually writing the redo to disk. Part of it is about LGWR collecting the redo. And part of it is about LGWR "posting" back to the waiting sessions that the write (sync) has been completed.

On a server with very high CPU utilisation, some time is lost in the messaging (posting) back from LGWR to the server processes that are waiting for it --- e.g. because LGWR itself could not get CPU cycles !

                Hemant,

Could you recommend me a good book, to learn how to troubleshoot performance issues (waits, log sync waits...) learn how to read AWR / Statspack?

                Cheers

See http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/statspack-examples/ for a very good collection.

I, too, plan to begin a series with http://hemantoracledba.blogspot.com/2011/07/reading-awr-1.html
