Just to add more info to this question....
I can connect the Oracle 10g Database with SQL Plus but not be able to create data source connection from BIDS 2008 either using type as Oracle client or OLE DB or ODBC.
BIDS just can't find my Oracle Client for windows 64 bit. don't know why......?

Is BIDS a 32 bit process or a 64 bit process? If you open task manager, click the Processes tab, does it have *32 next to its name? If so, its 32 bit, and you'll need 32 bit Oracle client software.1 person found this helpful
Hope it helps,
Thanks Greg for quick reply...
It seems that Visual Studio is 32-bit process/program but now the problem is when I try to install Oracle 11g 32-bit Client on my Windows7 64-bit Oracle Universal Installer fails. It doesn't allow to install 32-bit oracle client on my 64-bit windows machine.
What version of 11g, specifically? 10205, 11201, and 11202 are supported versions on Win7.
What is the observed behavior exactly? What does "doesn't allow" mean exactly? I assume you get an error? What error?
I will have to capture error by trying installing Oracle 32-bit Client of Oracle Installer and let you know but If I recall it was fussing about the operating system incompatibility.
But Thanks for checking...

Initially, I was using Oracle 11g R1 Client on Windows 7 64-bit so I could NOT install it but when I installed Oracle 11g R2 client it worked. I was able to create the data source in BIDS.
I am sure you know this but one more catch is...during creating data source when BIDS ask for "server name", don't enter host/server name but enter NAME OF THE DATABASE.
