    RHEL Smart Flash Cache support

    881075
Does Oracle Smart Flash Cache support Red Hat Linux enterprise: 2.6.18-238.9.1.el5 x86 64 ?

Is RHEL support coming to an end?

          This should answer your question:
          http://blogs.oracle.com/linux/entry/oracle_database_smart_flash_cache_only_on_oracle_linux_and_oracle_solaris

BTW, there is a difference between Exadata Smart Flash Cache and Database Smart Flash Cache.

If you are buying exadata, exadata storage server and exadata database server is preinstalled with Oracle linux or sun solaris operating system.
If you are buying exadata, you also buying exatata smart flash cache function with exadata.
So, RHEL is not related with exadata smart flash cache.

If your application server is using RHEL or any other OS, it is not matter to use exadata smart flash cache, cause exadata server is different servrer.

Database [Smart] FlashCache is NOT the same as Exadata [Smart] FlashCache.

See the URL the Greg has provided.

To be clear, Exadata storage cells are installed with Oracle Linux (only). Database servers in the DBM may be installed with Oracle Linux or Oracle Solaris (x86).
