    Error in Visual explorer

    870746
      Hi,

Our users are using Hyperion Visual explorer to do analysis and reporting. When they apply quick filters, the retrieval takes long time and then it fails , saying " ask the administrator to increase the value of netinterval and netcount. After that it pops up "Decompression failed" and "Invalid Pointer".

We have already set the netinterval and netcount high. Please advice.

      Thanks
      Andy

If you are facing issue of time out error still after modifying the netdalay and netretry count parameters. Try modifying the registry parameters of Windows server for the TCP/IP setting, where you add few DWORDS.

Hope the following details helps you.

The following changes to the Registry:

          1. Open the Registry (regedit)

          2. Navigate to Local Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP\Parameters

          3. Add new DWORD Value named TcpTimedWaitDelay, right click and select Modify.

Select decimal radio button, type in 30. (The default value of this parameter is 2 minutes. This is how long it will take for a TCP/IP port that was used by the network for a connection to be released and made available again. 30 sec is the minimum allowed by Microsoft)

          4. Add new DWORD Value named MaxUserPort, right click and select Modify.

Select decimal radio button, type in 65534. (The default value is 5000. This determines the highest port number TCP can assign when an application requests an available user port from the system).

          5. Add new DWORD Value named MaxFreeTcbs, right click and select Modify.

Select decimal radio button, type in 6250. (The default value is 2000. This determines the number of TCP control blocks (TCBs) the system creates to support active connections. Because each connection requires a control block, this value determines how many active connections TCP can support simultaneously. If all control blocks are used and more connection requests arrive, TCP can prematurely release connections in the TIME_WAIT state in order to free a control block for a new connection.)

          6. Reboot the Essbase Server.

You change in the client machine also if your using client to connect to the server.

Before making any changes in the registry take bakup also.

Follow below steps to Backup the Registry:

                  1. Click Start –> Run –> regedit
                  2. Click on File -> Export.
                  3. Save the file.
