Issues with vmlinuz-2.6.32-200.13.1.el5uek and lvm and/or san boot

      Hi,

I'm trying to install Oracle Linux 5.7 on a IBM HS22 Blade with SAN-Boot, multipath and lvm. Installation is smooth, but the following reboot shows a kernel panic:

      no volume groups found
      volume group "VolGroup00" not found
unable to access resume device (/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01)
mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'
setuproot: moving /dev failed: no such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /proc: no such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /sys: no such file or directory
switchroot: mount failed: no such file or directory
kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init!

If I boot the also installed redhat kompatible Kernel vmlinuz-2.6.18-274.el5 everything works as expected.

I've found the known issue 24 of the release-notes but the device-mapper-multipath is the version that should work with the uek-kernel:

      [root@test ~]# rpm -qa|grep multipath
      device-mapper-multipath-libs-0.4.9-23.0.9.el5
      device-mapper-multipath-0.4.9-23.0.9.el5
      [root@test ~]# rpm -qa|grep mkinitrd
      mkinitrd-5.1.19.6-71.0.6.el5
      mkinitrd-5.1.19.6-71.0.6.el5
      [root@test ~]# rpm -qa|grep kpartx
      kpartx-0.4.9-23.0.9.el5
      [root@test ~]#

The disk layout is that /boot is a separate partition and all the rest is handled by lvm:

      [root@test ~]# mount
      /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 on / type ext3 (rw)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
      /dev/mapper/mpath0p1 on /boot type ext3 (rw)
tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
none on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw)
sunrpc on /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs type rpc_pipefs (rw)
      [root@test ~]#

Any hints why the uek-kernel won't find the VolGroup? If mor information is needed, I'll gladly provide it.

      thanks
      volker
