Thanks .i appreciate your time taken to help me .

            I think
Oracle Database documentation, 10g Release 2 (10.2). is the latest release and i should go use this guide for the exams
although i saw there is no major difference in both the documentations
            (i mean 10g -10.1 version and 10g 10.2 version)

I hope i am getting it correct .

but also i found that not much matches the checklist of oracle of exam IZO-147 ( with respect to exam)

            Please guide me .
            Thanks in anticipation

In general it is better to learn the latest version that is available unless you have a need to study a lower version because that is what is being supported (or you need it for a certification exam).

And in general te facilities of an older version is superset of the older version ... but the are exceptions, however for PL/SQL here is generally the case.

In your case ... 1z0-147 ... is orientated towards oracle 9i and has a slight tendency to reference its use in Oracle Forms. In fact this exam is an update of exams from earlier PL/SQL versions.

There is an altenative exam available, 1z0-144 which is orientated towards Oracle 10g/11g PL/SQL. From where you are at i would seriously consider whether you would be better following that exam.

While studying the PL/SQL 10g document for the 1z0-147 exam will be generally appropriate, ...
HOWEVER ... you may find one or two questions in the 1z0-147 exam that from a PL/SQL 10g2 Viewpoint the question may seem inappropriate or possibly the 'best' answer(s) would note be the same as for 9i PL/SQL. The best may to do this is to note any 'new features' since 9i to 10gR2.

If this all seems a little confusing the best thing to do is to take 1z0-144.
And if you still wish to take 1z0-147 learn wha you think you need to first and then review the new features.

I personally think this is yet another reason why 1z0-147 should be retired (as well as 9i DBA OCx) as the online manuals for it are now no longer available ... but hey wait they are still available and candidate has been unable to find them. What a plonker I am. Candidate still persuing mission to 1z0-147 should view one of:

              http://www.oracle.com/pls/db92/db92.homepage
              http://www.oracle.com/pls/db92/db92.docindex?remark=homepage
              http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96624.pdf

... though I sometimes wonder if i am being walked the walk .......

WRT the other thread you resurrected {thread:id=2283405} 72404 was me in an earlier incarnation and this should answer that as well as far as i am going to.

                Hi bigdelboy

Thanks for the links and the guidance .I understand that izo-144 is a better and latest version. Also i wanted to know if i am getting you right ..

                1.*http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96624.pdf*
is the link for IZO-147 PL/SQL 9i as you have suggested .

I feel not much from triggers have been mentioned in this documentation.Do i need to use additional references to know more about triggers.

2.also i think i understand the version below can be used for iz0-147 .. ( giving importance to the features)

                Oracle® Database
                PL/SQL User's Guide and Reference
                10g Release 2 (10.2)
                B14261-01

While studying the PL/SQL 10g document for the 1z0-147 exam will be generally appropriate, ...
HOWEVER ... you may find one or two questions in the 1z0-147 exam that from a PL/SQL 10g2 Viewpoint the question may seem inappropriate or possibly the 'best' answer(s) would note be the same as for 9i PL/SQL. The best may to do this is to note any 'new features' since 9i to 10gR2.

                as said by you.

                3. also In case if i want to pursue iz0-144 what would be the best docs to follow?I actually found one .Could you please tell me if its the correct one ?

                http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e17126.pdf

or some books i could follow.

i am getting confused now :) not getting the correct materials to study .all the versions are good ,but i want to gain knowledge as well as clear my certification ...

Thanks again for your support and guidance

                  Hi all

Whoever is looking for a complete reference for the IZ0-147 exams , IMHO please refer to the oracle documentations for the

                  Oracle® Database
                  PL/SQL User's Guide and Reference
                  10g Release 2 (10.2)
                  B14261-01

This is the latest release for oracle 10g database, although this does not completely explain the topics given in the Oracle checklist for the exam .

I would suggest all to read from other oracle documentations for the relevant topics which you cannot find here as i am going to do .

                  For the IZO-144 EXAMS

                  Oracle® Database
                  PL/SQL Language Reference
                  11g Release 2 (11.2)
                  E17126-08

seems to be a good guide covering most of the topics

At the end i found reading all the other threads may be, there is no One book that covers all the topics for this exam.

If anyone finds one let me know

Thanks and good luck to all.

                  Thanks
