    No, sorry to say - I haven't. It must be a setup issue because a solution is not readily available. It seems no one else has reported this problem. I have to use 10g on another machine for all of my development. frustrationg :-(

    The problem is that Oracle Forms and Reports Builder is not supported for 64-bit operating system.
    I know there is a trick that a customer told me but I forget.

    Hi All:

    Just found out a work around. Is a little bit tricky but might work for you too guys. Basically, I installed both the 32bit and 64bit java JRE and JDK. No problem with support on Windows 7 for that 'cause they work on different directories. Once I finished installing Oracle Fusion 11g with JDK 1.6 64bit I switched the path to JRE 1.6 32bit. Both are on the PATH variable just that Windows looks first for JRE 32bit. Once I did that no more crashes (so far...) Try it and let me know how it works for you.

    Regards....

    What exactly did you put in the path? Right now I have "C:\Program Files x86\Java\jdk1.6.0_30\bin" as part of the path, but I don't know if that is correct. Reports builder is still crashing when I click on Data Model. If anyone knows if that is accurate or not, please let me know. Any guidance is appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi,

    After spending lot of time for searching solution of this problem, Data Model crashing. I reached on the point that there is some problem in Oracle Reports 64bit, then i uninstall 64bit version and install Developer 11gR2 32bit on Server 2008R2 64bit. Now every thing is working fine.

    Only i have to recomplie all forms,reports,libraries in 32bit version.

    If any other got the solution of Data Model Crashing, please inform us.

    Correct.
    11gR1 Builders on Win 64 are only supported using 32 bits software distribution.

    Reference
         Availability of Oracle Forms/Reports Builders Version 11g R1 (11.1.1.x) on 64 bit Platforms. (Doc ID 1108940.1)

    But you can use the new 11gR2 where builder are support on 64 bits.
    You can download it from the following link.

    So this is kind of a pain because you have to do this every time Reports Builder starts, but I found a solution.

    Every time you start Reports Builder click the following:
    File -> New -> Report -> Build Report Manually
    OR to save time set the Welcome Dialog to pop up just select "Build Report Manually"
    (Edit->Preferences->Wizards(tab)->Welcom Dialog)

    After that you can open any of your files and use the data model without it crashing.

    I also found another work around if you DO NOT USE PLUGGABLE DATA SOURCES and have 11.1.2 (release 2) 64-bit.

    Go to:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\asinst_1\config\FRComponent\frcommon\tools\admin
    Edit: cauprefs.ora

    Replace the following:
    Reports.PluggableDataSourceFactories =
    ("oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.xmlpds.XMLDataSourceFactory",
    "oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.jdbcpds.JDBCDataSourceFactory",
    "oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.textpds.TextDataSourceFactory")

    With the following:
    Reports.PluggableDataSourceFactories = ()

    Hope this helps someone! :)
