    no service listening for 8080

    gpoz
      Greetings experts!

      After following the instructions from oracle to begin using the embedded plsql gateway on a home system, it worked very well, biggest effort was writing a prototype web presentation to try it out. Now we are trying to implement this at work (large organization, complicated IT setup), and we have again followed the instructions from oracle, and the effort is stalled. We have network people saying we have nothing listening on the port, although listener.ora was updated properly and bounced.

      LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xxx.yyy.com)(PORT = 1521)
      (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=xxx.yyy.com)(PORT=8080))(Presentation=HTTP)(Session=RAW)
      )
      )

      Please let me know if this looks incorrect, or if there are some items to review which the docs may not have spelled out.

            forget it, have found my problem. Since XML DB was installed after the fact, not every necessary setting was known up front (depsite reading the docs). HEre's the one that made it work out:

            SELECT dbms_xdb.gethttpport FROM dual;

            -- If the port number returns 0, the HTTP Server is disabled.

            dbms_xdb.sethttpport(8080);
