We're using JDE Enterprise One 8.11
we have 1 database server
1 enterprise server
1 production server
1 generator machine
4 developer machine
All have microsoft visual studio 2003 downgrade from microsoft visual studio 2010 profesional OLP
when we buy it from reseller it said that 1 license is for 1 developer
so we buy 4 license cause we have 4 developer
is this license right or wrong cause we only use generator machine and developer machine for add on custom for
interactive application as well as batch application, and product packaging.
So anyone that have experience on this do we have enough license or not ?
This is a Microsoft thing.
You need a MS VS license for every (Windows) machine you installed MS VS C++ on.
MS VS is needed on;
Every MS Enterprise Server (where JDE logic runs). If server has different OS, you need a C++ compiler but not the one from MS (off course)
Every JDE development client (in your case, you will need 4 licenses)
The Generator machine does not need VS, since this machine is not used for JDE development. Generating serialized items does not depend on the VS C++ component.
are you sure that generate machine need not have visual studio
my step on product packaging on generation machine
check in - check out - release token
and the last
is to generate object for update
is my step did not use C++ compiler via visual studio ?
I notice that you are using the html generation machine also for product package and package builds as wel.
You only need the C compiler for development AND packagebuild. Normally I would split these functionality. (different machines for development and html generation, product packaging)
I'm not sure about Product packages, but I would advice doing the package builds on the deployment server. (doing only the assembly on a client for update packages)
Building on the depl server makes the build process MUCH faster.
