Launching Oracle E-Business Suite forms fails when inside a VPN

    866804
      Hi there,

I support a customer that is having an issue where they cannot access their e-business suite when inside a VPN. They are using a Cisco SSL VPN. It could be an issue with the VPN or the network but as yet we have not been able to find anything that points towards this.

Basically what happens is that they can log in fine when they are working in the office and not logged in through the VPN but when they are at home or at a client the application fails. Users can log in to the website fine but when they actually try and load the forms everything seems to work but then stop loading.

Everything seems to fail at the point where the Oracle logo is on the screen and the actual forms should be loading in the background. On looking at the java console the last file to load ends in /oracle/forms/icons/frame.gif.

I am sorry if this is not detailed enough to help you see what could be the problem. I can provide whatever information is needed.

      Thanks in advance,
      Rob

Please post the details of the application release, database version and OS.

          What is the error?

Any details about the error in Apache log files?

          Thanks,
          Hussein

              Rob,

              What does "stops loading" mean?
I do not have access to the Apache log files.
We need to check the contents of Apache log files as well as the application.log file. Also, check the contents of JRE console window for any errors.

              Thanks,
              Hussein

It could be VPN client software related - see MOS Doc 471120.1 (Can't Launch Forms in E-Business when accessed via VPN: Formslauncher Notinited)

Without getting the error details it is not easy to guess the cause of the error, so checking the log files and the Java console window should help (as already requested before!).

The the OP is already aware of this ..

Most probably you have a network issue (connectivity issue between the clients and the application server).

Not sure if you've solved this yet. We are running 12.1.3 and encountered network stability issues (forms related) with all upgrades until we switched from native http to sockets mode. Once we switched to socket mode we stopped seeing the seemingly random FRM-92102 errors and the situation where anyone on a specifc ISP could not use forms.

MOS note 437878.1 specifies what needs to be done to make the switch. When diagnosing this issue, I used the java console and watched an 11.5.10 instance come up and run without issue. It was using sockets without issue.

I'm seeing the same problem with my client's R12.1.3 /11.2 (DB) instance. It works fine within the client's office, but when trying to use their Cisco AnyConnect SSL VPN, we hit an issue when trying to access professional forms. We can log into the instance successfully and access the self-service forms, but the professional forms generate a 92102 error. From firefox, we see it as a Registry Error, while IE just reports it as a connection error.

Please check the application.log file for details about the error.

We are still seeing this issue but I am going to investigate the previous posters suggestions.

Your problem is interesting as it seems fairly similar to ours. We are also using Cisco AnyConnect. Once we log in to the oracleondemand.com site we can browse around the site, the problem only appears when trying to load the actual forms.

                              Thanks,
