Yes. Newer versions of Jena Adapter require JDK 1.6.
The Jena Adapter (released in 2009) was compiled using JDK 1.5. So you can use that version together with Oracle database 188.8.131.52 if you want.
However, do you really want to miss all the features/optimizations/bug fixes just to go back to JDK 1.5?
Is there a particular reason you want to stay with JDK 1.5?
I used earlier version of jena adapter for Oracle and has solved my problem.
