This image is delivered on PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.62 but can be used with target environments on earlier PeopleTools releases. If your target environment is on a PeopleTools release earlier than 8.62, there are configuration instructions that need to be followed before you begin applying your application maintenance. See the production documentation for PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.62 Change Assistant and Update Manager. The PUM process imposes (and Change Assistant enforces) minimum patch levels for the PeopleTools Client used for the purpose of applying changes. These minimums may be higher than the current patch level of your target database. The latest version of the PeopleTools client for each supported PeopleTools release (which in some cases may be higher than the required minimum) is delivered with each PI. The minimum patch level requirements of the PUM process do not force customers to apply a PeopleTools patch to their actual target environments, however they may be required to install a new PeopleTools Client from the PI to support the PUM process. PUM uses this minimum PeopleTools Client only for applying maintenance, and it has no effect on the PeopleTools runtime used by your target environment. Even if your target environment is on PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.60 or 8.61, you can still take advantage of the new PUM features in PeopleTools 8.62 without having to upgrade.
