Best Practise - Add a new script or Edit existing Script - Script Performance

Hi, I am working on an account with large number of customization in the Item Receipt record. I need to add one more script to the record. Is it advisable to add a new script , in view of performance? Or should I  edit an existing script and add the logic? Does it have increase the script performance?
