nlapiSelectNode Xpath issue when xmlns is present

Has anyone came across an issue where xpath doesn't select any node because of presence of xmlns attribute?

I'm coming across this for Amazon webservices where response contains xmlns that points to amazon and because of it, the xpath fails.
