Sales Activity Goals and Tracking

Anyone have a straightforward way to plugin a Quota that is really amount of sales Activity?  I am hoping to avoid building custom formula but I am guessing that is what I will need to do.

Example:

Goal: 1000 calls a month

On August 15th (halfway through the month)

MTD Sales Rep Activity Tracking

Goal Actual    %
500   480      96%
