Report Date Filter

when i sign in as an administrator
and click into my edit my sales report, the data filter is setup as

Report Component=Sales

Field=Period

Value= Filter: Inclusive
Period Range: This Period
Periods:       Aug 2013

Show in Footer=Yes

then when i log in as sales administrator role,
the same report shows a different customized date filter

Report Component= Sales

Field= Date

Value= Filter: After and Including
Date Range: custom
From: 1/1/2011

Show in Footer= Yes

why am i getting two different settings?
