Rollback on update or updatelist

I am curious if anyone knows of a way to rollback an update, or updatelist. What we are currently experiencing is we update a sales order with a new quantity, and need to apply a fulfillment record to that sales order immediately after. We are updating the salesorder without issue, but if there is a failure adding the fulfillment record for any reson our system gets out of balance. So it would be nice to rollback the update in that case.
