Commission on Profitability per Transaction Total

We are looking to change our commission criteria from a "Per Transaction Line Item" to "Per Transaction Total" but we would still like to categorize the commissions by departments. This appears to be a limitation within NetSuite as the "Categorized By:" drop-down is not available when selecting "Per Transaction Total".

Does anyone have any suggestions of any alternative solutions or workarounds?
