Only admin can access ODBC Excel 2013.
I have multiple roles that are setup with full access the "Advanced Analytics" permission. I can connect to the ODBC data source in Excel and it returns a list of tables. If I try to add any of these tables to my query I get the error:
"Can't access table inventoryAnalyst.ITEMS (where inventoryAnalyst is the role).
I've tried a bunch of roles and only Admin works. If I use the administrator as the table owner I can return data from any table I want.
I tested in MS Visio and don't seem to have any problem returning tables with the inventoryAnalyst role.
