Use of getSelectValue()

edited May 28, 2020 7:33PM in SuiteCloud / Customization 3 comments

It's my understanding that GetSelectValue() can be used to solve the following:

1) Get all select values in a specific list associated with a record. For example, return a list of all partners for a specific customer as follows:

GetSelectValueField selectField = new GetSelectValueField();  selectField.setFieldType(GetSelectValueType.customer_partner);  selectField.setSearchCriteria("");  port.getSelectValue(selectField);

2) Used to get a specific select value in a specific list associated with a record. For example, return a specific partner for a specific customer as follows:

GetSelectValueField selectField = new GetSelectValueField();  selectField.setFieldType(GetSelectValueType.customer_partner);  selectField.setSearchCriteria("CC165");  port.getSelectValue(selectField);

Assuming that #2 is an intended use of the API, the problem with it is that the search is performed using a "starts with" or "contains" criteria, and is not an exact match. If I had partner records with values CC165, CC16521, and CC165000, it returns all three records, which in my mind is not the intent of the call.

Howdy, Stranger!
