Granting API access OAuth-like?

Nowadays, when a "add-on" app wants to connect to a primary app,
- the add-on is redirecting the user to a special page within the primary app
- the user validates the access rights granted to the add-on app,
- the user gets redirected to the add-on app passing credentials in the process.
(this process is basically OAuth)

How can I achieve the same behavior with NetSuite? Thanks!
