Opening record in netsuite and recording calls via API

Is it possible to open up an customer account record within the CRM by making an API call.

Also is it possible to log phone calls to that account record through the API.

The general suitetalk documentation seemed more general, like adding and removing basic stuff and i couldn't seem to find either of those in there. Thanks in advance.
