Opportunity Document Status - Open vs. In Progress

We are trying to understand how the Opportunity transaction works. There are two status fields:

  • Opportunity Status - single select value set by user, based on the Customer Statuses list
  • Document Status - calculated value?

There are several document status values:

  • Open - ?
  • In Progress - ?
  • Issued Estimate - set when probably != 0 or 100% and there is at least one active estimate?
  • Closed - Won - appears to be set based on probability = 100%
  • Closed - Lost - appears to be set based on probability = 0%

What is the difference between Open and In Progress?
