Need a solution for more than one user in a case

I know that NetSuite only allows one user to make changes to a record at a time. But I didn't know if anyone came up with a workaround for this or for some kind of indicator to allow others to know the record is currently being edited by another user before saving the record. Thank you in advance for any feedback/advice you may have.
