Notes Receivable/Payable Mgmt and Reports

I have been trying to find a place within NetSuite to manage notes receivable and notes payable and to subsequently form summary reports of all such notes across the organization.  I'm relatively new to NetSuite but in my searching, I've found there are tools for accounts receivable and payable but not for notes.  So far the solution that has been used is to link outside excel spreadsheets with payment schedules to journal entries but it seems like there ought to be a tool housed in the system somewhere.  Has anyone found a solution here that has worked for them?  Thanks
