Contact record not pulling through on Create New Task from the contact Record or From Log Phone Call

My sales folks are bringing up a possible issue that has popped up. It seems that when New Task or New Call is pressed from the contact record it is no longer populating the contact in the related record for the task or call. It is populating the company, but not the contact. We've made no changes to this that I know of and they swear that it always would populate previously to some time last week since we started in Netsuite December 2017. Note that the log phone call button on the communication tab also
