Adding a external URL link (I.e. google sheet) to custom dashboard

Is the only way to add an external link to a dashboard via script? I'm trying to add external links to specific google sheets and/or link to punch in/out from Paychex. All are external links. I have tried adding them on the center links tab however it appears something is not working as it shows a warning on the variety of links already saved. I've searched suite answers and the oracle community to find more options but can't seem to dial in on what I'm looking for.
