How to create Finance Dashboards and KPIs?

Hi,

I am creating a dashboard for a Controller, CFO, and CEO. They want to see basic stuff like how much revenue is generated for a particular period and how much sales or expenses are for a period or department etc. I want to understand how to build these and the standard dashboards that are useful for any company. Please thorough some light on this.
