The Accounting Period Preferences (NetSuite QuickStart Edition) feature is designed to empower users with a straightforward and effective way to manage their financial reporting cycles, making it an essential tool for accountants and business owners alike.
You can access these preferences in two ways:
- Click the Ask Oracle button, navigate to the accounting section, select Settings, and then choose the Accounting Preferences card. From there, select Accounting Period Preferences.
- Use the global search field to find Accounting Preferences.
The key preferences available in the Accounting Period Preferences section include:
Number of Automatically Created Future Fiscal Years: This controls how many future fiscal years are generated automatically. For example, selecting Create current year + 1 future year will create one future fiscal year, while Create current year generates only the current fiscal year’s periods.
Create an Adjustment Period at the End of the Year: This determines whether an adjustment period is automatically created at the end of each fiscal year. If checked, an adjustment period is created; if unchecked, no adjustment period is generated.
These preferences help automate period management, ensuring accurate financial reporting and period transitions.
