Searching for First Receipt of Items

There are a few searches I would like to build that require finding the first time we received an item.

For instance, I would like a simple alert when we receive a new item for the first time (and only then).

I would also like to send an alert from a search when we have sold a percentage of our first order (and only then).

I'm not sure of the best way to go about it, and any help would be appreciated!
