Workflow attachments

I asked this on the end of another thread but I thought I could give it it's own post.

I am building a simple workflow hooked to proposals and I want to send an email from the workflow and attach the proposal to the email rather than a link. Is there any way to do this?

What I am doing would be a simple script, but as I already have the workflow built I would like to keep using it.
