workflow not work for Transaction column fields

hi,

I created transaction column fileds in sales order record.
i want set filed values for those column fields.is there any such limitation is there in workflow for column fileds. i can't able to see those fields in workflow.

Can any one please help me out in this. Guide me what have to do.
