Confrim Popup in Workflow

I would like to develop a workflow that when an end user clicks the Approve button on a Sales Order in Pending Approval status, workflow triggers a 'Confirm' popup.

Currently, my workflow has a saved search that is allowing certain Sales Orders to enter workflow while in Pending Approval status (my preference) but I have not been able to return the Confirm popup within the single State.

State 1:
-Trigger On : Before User Submit
-Initiation : Event Based; On Update; Trigger Type = All
-Condition : Approval Status = Pending Approval
(I have also tried a variety of other Condition selections)

I am starting to wonder if a multi-state workflow is needed, which I have not done before.
